Clifftop Challenge for Breast Cancer Now

On Saturday 17th June 2023, the Clifftop Challenge completed its 8th year, raising money for Breast Cancer Now. Green Insurance Group were one of the proud sponsors for the event this year.

A bit about the history, from the Clifftop Challenge website:
"The Clifftop Challenge is organised by mother-of-two Chantele Rashbrook, who has been undergoing pioneering treatment for secondary metastatic breast cancer since July 2014.

Back in 2014, whilst undergoing treatment, Chantele organised the first 'Clifftop Challenge' with her husband Phil. A 55 mile run from Hastings to Deal along the entire coastline, with various other distances for all abilities and a day of entertainment and fundraising activities."

It continues to provide adventure and entertainment, whether it’s a physical challenge you are after or a relaxing afternoon being entertained by some great bands.

Phil Day, Green Insurance Group Sandwich, completed the challenge this year and commented:

"I am happy to say I managed another year running the Clifftop challenge, I forgot how long running 15 miles can take, but it is always enjoyable and for such a worthwhile cause supporting ‘Breast Cancer Now’. It is an annual event and can be done over various distances; 5, 10, 15, 26, 36 or 55 miles. The routes across the downs/cliffs are always challenging being more off road than on so more like a fell rund but I would say the views can be breath taking or that might just be mile 12 that takes my breath away! Seriously, the setting, achievement and cause will always be the best part, the worst part has to be the steps at the back of dover harbour going up the cliff"

Phil runs regularly for enjoyment and runs the Clifftop Challenge with friends and family. He would like to get to double figures in his involvement  as he points out, "All charitable causes are worthwhile and unfortunately we will all probably know someone who has suffered and needed the services and resources of a charity so it's just nice to be able to contribute and enjoy doing it at the same time".

Thanks to sponsors, competitors and volunteers on the day we have raised the sum of £32,000 making a full total of £192,000 over the past 9 years for Breast Cancer Now. - Micheal Griggs, Event Organiser.
